Get a loan without excellent credit

You have probably heard that getting a loan with excellent credit is really easy. But what about getting one if your credit score is not that good? Where do you stand with your “good”, “fair”, or “poor” credit rating and can you really get a loan without excellent credit?

First of all an excellent credit does not automatically mean you will get a loan. The opposite is true as well – a less than perfect credit score does not mean you will be automatically denied a loan. The factors, aside from your FICO, that play a role in the bank’s decision are your income, members in your family, down payment, and many others. This is the reason why sometimes people with excellent credit feel “cheated” by a creditor and think they deserve a better loan than they actually got. The same goes for people without excellent credit that have received a much nicer deal than they have expected.

The second point I want to make is that you can get a loan without excellent credit but it is going to cost you more. And by that I mean a difference of a one or two percent in interest rates, the amount of credit you can qualify for, and of course the terms in your contract. If you have a good job and a not-so-good credit history, it is better to get a shorter term loan – make it as short as possible. This way the interest rate won’t kill you.

The third and final point is about the down payment. If your credit rating is not very strong, make sure you put aside a few dollars that you can use as a down payment. Creditors are reluctant to loan money to people with bad credit and without any down payment. Nowadays they are even reluctant to do so for the ones with excellent credit.

You can easily get a loan without excellent credit. Keep in mind that the terms will not be the same for you as they are for the people with excellent credit. If you shop around, you should be able to find a good enough deal.
